This is a firmware upgrade for the TouchDRO Adapter "v2" for Glass/Magnetic Scales. This upgrade is based on the newest "v3" code, and will add the following capabilities to your adapter:
- Lifetime access to TouchDRO Plus features
- Mitutoyo SPC and "Chinese" BIN6 *
- Converts the limit switch inputs into reference signal inputs
- Two-way communication mode
- Enables future updates via the TouchDRO app**
* Signal level converters sold separately
** Requires an ESP32 programmer or compatible USB-to-Serial bridge
To have your DRO adapter upgraded, you will need to ship it to us for re-programming. The price includes:
- The cost of labor to re-program and test your adapter ($29)
- The price of TouchDRO "Plus" activation code ($50)
You will be expected to cover the cost of shipping both ways. Return shipping (to you) will be calculated during checkout.
Compatible Adapter
This firmware is compatible with the adapter shown below.
Note "Rev. 2.0" and ESP32 module ESP32-WROOM-32E. It is not compatible with PCB revision 1.6 or earlier.
How to Ship the Adapter to Us
To ship the adapter for re-programming, please package it carefully and ship it to:

Please note, this is a Post Office box, so please ensure that the shipping method you choose will be able to deliver to a PO box, and does not have a signature requirement.
- If you purchased a pre-assembled adapter, please send it in fully assembled state.
- If you purchased a partially-assembled kit or a bare board, please send only the board (without the enclosure or DB9 connectors).
- If you are shipping your unit from outside the USA, please use HS (Harmonized System) code 9801.00.10 and include a copy of your original order confirmation.
If you purchased a fully-assembled TouchDRO Adapter for Glass and Magnetic Scales between October 1st 2023 and January 30th, 2024, we will waive the cost of the Plus version add-on (your cost will be $29 + shipping).
Free TouchDRO Plus add-on applies only if you purchased the adapter in fully assembled state (for $159 + shipping), as shown below. Not a partially-assembled kit, where you had to bolt together the enclosure, or a standalone board.
To receive the refund for the TouchDRO Plus unlock add-on, please include a printout of your original order. We will process the refund once we receive your shipment.
Legal Stuff
- When we receive the adapter, it must be in its original and functional state. We reserve the right to refuse to upgrade your adapter if:
- If you've made any modifications to the adapter
- If the adapter is non-functional due to user damage
- You will be expected to pay any taxes or tariffs charged by your country's customs. We are required by law to declare the cost of the upgrade on the export forms.
- We are not responsible for any lost or damaged shipments.
- We reserve the right to replace your adapter at our discretion with a new TDA-420 adapter.
- Once we receive your adapter, the upgrade price is non-refundable, even if your adapter is not upgradeable.
- If we don't receive your adapter within 90 days from the date you place your order, we will cancel/refund the order and charge a 10% processing fee.
- The turnaround time for firmware upgrade is 10 business days from the date we receive the unit.
