This pre-programmed ESP32 DevKitC module is the plug-in controller used in the 4 Axis Do-it-Yourself DRO Kit (TDK-40), a wireless digital readout (DRO) solution for milling machines and metal lathes. It comes with the same TouchDRO Plus firmware we ship with current TDK-40 kits, so it drops straight into a kit motherboard or a compatible DIY carrier board and works just like the original module. When paired with the TDK-40 main board for DIY DRO builds, it forms a complete 4-axis TouchDRO adapter for glass and magnetic scales.


Firmware and features

All modules are shipped with TouchDRO V3 Plus firmware pre-installed, providing:

  • Support for up to 4 quadrature encoder inputs (optical and magnetic DRO scales, via a suitable carrier/mainboard such as the TDK-40 DIY DRO main board)
  • Access to the TouchDRO Plus Android application for advanced digital readout functions
  • Support for Mitutoyo SPC and BIN6 digital data protocols (requires appropriate input conversion circuit)
  • Ideal for DIY DRO upgrades on mills, lathes, and other machine tools using glass or magnetic linear scales

Supported DRO Scales

The adapters support DRO scales and rotary encoders that output 5V quadrature signal. This includes:

  • Majority of modern optical, magnetic, and inductive digital readout scales. Learn more
